چکیده

In 1952, Kornberg and Pricer (1) reported in a preliminary communication that P-choline1 labeled with P32 and Cl* was converted by liver enzymes to a lipide which was not further characterized. The ratio of P32 to Cl4 in the product was closely similar to that of the labeled P-choline, suggesting incorporation of both phosphorus and choline as an intact unit into a phospholipide, presumably lecithin. The following reaction mechanism was suggested (2, 3) as a possible explanation for these results:

The enzymatic synthesis of sphingomyelin.

The role of cytidine coenzymes in phospholipide biosynthesis is now well established (1, 2). Since sphingomyelin has a phosphorylcholine (PC) moiety similar to that found in lecithin, it ha.s been proposed (3) that it is synthesized enzymatically in a reaction in which the phosphorylcholine moiety of CDPcholine is transferred to the free primary hydroxyl group of a ceramide (N-acylsphingosine) ...

Possible metabolic functions of deoxycytidine diphosphate choline and deoxycytidine diphosphate ethanolamine.

The isolation of deoxycytidine diphosphate choline (1) and deoxycytidine diphosphate ethanolamine (2,3) from diverse biological sources suggests that these compounds may have important metabolic functions. The corresponding ribonucleotides, CDP-choline and CDP-ethanolamine, have been shown to be essential intermediates in the biosynthesis of phospholipides (4). In the present paper, the synthes...

Dephosphorylation of nucleotides by insect flight muscle.

Recent studies have demonstrated that nucleotide triphosphates, other than ATP,’ function in biological systems in a manner analogous to that of ATP. These purine and pyrimidine ribotides are now, known to serve as coenzymes in the biosynthesis and interconversion of hexose phosphates (l-3)) in the formation of phospholipides (4)) and as phosphate donors or acceptors in carboxylation reactions ...

Comparing the function of aqueous extract of mangrove plants Avicennia marina and Rhizophora mucronata in biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles

In this study, the leaf extract activity of two species of mangrove plants, Avicennia marina (Avicenniaceae family) and Rhizophora mucronata (Rhizophoraceae) was compared in biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The AgNPs were investigated using spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Abso...
